Ludwig Breakbeat Kit Deal @ GC $319

I think the one I played had pinstripes on the toms, forget what was on the kick/snare but I vividly remember being quite impressed with the sound and feel--if I ever get one more "quick set & play" kit, this would probably be it.

    Neil meets Charlie

Hey, no argument from me, but everyone is different...I've actually passed up the chance to meet/talk to famous drummers many times over the years because it doesn't matter to ME.

    Neil meets Charlie

Sorry for thinking that the slight interactions with fans comes with being Rich and Famous, like it or not--otherwise become an accountant. And for the record I've never been to one and have zero desire to ever do it. I guess I just view m-n-g as similar to a book signing where people line up...

    Neil meets Charlie

Don't worry--I'd be sure to avoid it...feel free to avoid my next one as well. (What a weird thing to say, oh well...)

    Neil meets Charlie

Hey, I hear you but simply disagree--if the BAND agrees to a meet n greet then the ENTIRE Band should do it, that's all. Doesn't really have anything to do with "owing" anyone anything when you boil it down. But to me it's like an otherwise beautiful smile with one main tooth missing from the...

OT: I did not think they could pull this off when I clicked it on.

She actually has a few other recent versions of her doing it solo on a nylon-string (i think) acoustic guitar. Pretty amazing as well but this jazz band version is ridiculously good! To be honest I wasn't expecting much but this is sensational--I wish more Rush fans knew about it...

Ludwig Breakbeat Kit Deal @ GC $319

That's actually pretty tempting but I simply cannot justify another kit right now unfortunately--I played on one at GC probably 2-3 years ago and it really sounded incredible tho! The Toms in particular really impressed me

Wow!! It fits the bill perfectly!

Dallas Taylor / Hayman / Van Morrison

Yes! Change Partners is one of my all-time favorites from SS! Genius move to go 4/4 on the chorus and 6/8 on the verses. For some reason it always paints a mental picture (for me) of a Medieval scene with gorgeous young Maidens and strapping young Knights...

Did you build that display case or buy it as is?? It's awesome!

OT: I did not think they could pull this off when I clicked it on.

I don't know how to post links here, but I'm 100% ADDICTED to a smooth-jazz Diana Krall-ish live version of Fly By Night on YouTube...no guitar, just sax, piano, acoustic bass, drums and a Smokin female vocalist. It's honestly incredible--I wonder if Al and Geddy have seen it? Please check it...

    Neil meets Charlie

Fair points but I'm pretty sure the folks who get selected for the meetings are pretty well-screened and heavy security is only a few steps away. I can obviously understand his position after his wife and daughter passed but after a reasonable amount of time had passed he should have done it. It...

Piece of equipment that's stuck with you

Big NB fan here too! Bought a new pair of 14s in 1991--still use them often

    Neil meets Charlie

I can totally understand that and would never criticize him for THAT, but I still feel he should have done the "meet n greet" thang for hardcore fans--that is a very controlled situation (obviously) and as cool as it had to have been to hang however briefly with Geddy and Alex, not having Neil...

Broke down and purchased a new hardware case

I have 2 that are similar but close to 16 years difference in age. It looks like a "coffin on wheels" but it allows me to keep all my stands at normal playing height (just fold up the legs). They both have 4 caster wheels on the bottom so it can roll. Both pretty heavy when fully loaded but they...

Piece of equipment that's stuck with you

I have a 10" K splash and a 17" K China (both brilliant finish) that I bought used from my old drum teacher in 1991. Still look and sound great!

Any of you have a one-trip kit?

Not 1 but I can usually make it in 2, especially if my wife helps organize the cart-loading part lol!! I have a heavy duty dolly (technically called a hand truck) that converts to a roll-cart with the pull of a cotter pin. I "customized" it shortly after buying it with a piece of plywood to make...

Piece of equipment that's stuck with you

I still have a 16" A Medium Crash that my parents got me for Christmas in 1986--it still looks and sounds great. I was going thru an old cymbal bag recently and found a 18" Amir Crash!! I used to use it all the time back in the day since it was my first Crash cymbal i ever got (summer of 86 i...
