SOLD - Ayotte Keplinger Snare Drum - Ray Ayotte Era

These are becoming more scarce. The highly heralded Ayotte Keplinger snare drum. 5.5x14. I'm the original owner. Bought new at the Drum Circuit in the late 90's. I'm not recording anymore, so it's time for someone to use this. Amazing shape. A very tiny knick on the top hoop hardly worth...

In Praise of the Danmar Zoro Beater

Here’s a good opportunity to plug the artist bd beater from my friend Zoro that I have used for over 20 years. I picked up a lightly used Tama Speedcobra from kickassdrummer (A+ seller btw) recently. I’ve been a DW 5000 user for years. Large adjustments are coming to my playing, mainly...

Drum Center of Portsmouth - PENDING Experience

As some know, I started a thread early on sharing some Sakae deals that were going to emerge from DCP as they had purchased the Japanese closeouts. This is my first experience purchasing from them. After many failed attempts to resolve transaction issues with management and Shane there, I felt I...

The Downside To Modern Vintage Kits

As I’ve posted a lot, I’m a huge fan of Sakae Trilogy drums. I have a shell bank and it is my only kit now (except my 20’s Leedy Rainbow Pearl set which is not the daily driver.) The struggle I have is matching some of my snares previously owned with the round buttery soft tones of the Trilogy...

Single Bass Drum Pedal - high end

I need a single pedal that will fit my Sakae Trilogy bass drum that has a rubber bumper on the hoop. I have a pre-delta II DW 5000 pedal which doesn't fit unfortunately. I haven't tried new pedals in years, but am open to other brands. I've historically liked chain, but I'm open to explore if a...

    Gretsch Broadcasters vs. Sakae Trilogy

Anyone done a direct comparison and/or own both by chance. They are both thin 3 ply maple/poplar/maple. Hoops are very different however. I compared the Trilogy drums to the Brooklyns at the time, but don't remember if the Broadcasters were around at the time.

What do you think about this Australian drum builder?

My time in Australia provided me the opportunity to obtain two locally made bucket list items. One is a block segment snare drum. I didn’t want to spend $2k on a used Brady, so I sought out a trending drum maker in Western Australia who is sourcing wood from the same place Brady did and knows...

Older DW 5000 Pedal Fit Issue

So, I have a single chain 5000 pedal pre-DeltaII hinge. Still has solid red plate on base. It’s been a backup pedal. The hinge on the hoop clamp does not expand far enough to fit on my Sakae Trilogy BD hoop, as it has the rubber guard around the hoop. I’d like to retain that to protect the hoop...

    Cymbal Selection for Rivets

Anyone have any insight (or theories) on how cymbal companies select which cymbals they drill for rivets? I’ve always been curious what, if any, the criteria may be but have never asked.
