I´m using different combinations of these drums on most of my gigs ranging from acoustic Jazz to loud Independent Rock. These are 2 sets of 81" Drop G Gretsches in Black Nitron wrap (20,12,14 + 22,12,13,16) and a rewrapped Stop sign 18x14 bassdrum
Thanks again for everybody´s input! I do appreciate that alot.
Seems that I´ll just forget aboutthe issue for now - we´ll se what the future might bring...
And since somebody was asking for pics of the set "from the outside", here are a few:
most of the screws and washers inside the shells of my recently aquired Rogers holidays are pretty rusty. I´d like to know the following:
Should this worry me or do you say "nevermind"?
Should I do something against it?
an di fthe answer is "yes" - what would you do?
My Band of 30 years has done a project together with a Big Band last year. To promote some upcoming gigs we´ve finished another video of the material that has been recorded at our debut in May yesterday that I´d like to share with you. I would love to get some comments btw.
I´ve put them through their first "Rock test" the last two nights - and they`ve passed with only the best grades!
btw. those for you that are on facebook and interested could take listen here (snare is an 68 14x5 supraphonic
I´ve aquired these drums in the middle opf december and since then allready played them quite a bit. I really like them! THey sound (and look!) great and also different enough from my Gretsches and the Ludwig Kit to justify (to myself) having bought them. Might eventually look for a snare too...
Well it´s not really pristine - the 12" Tom has some rash. but it does look amazing for sure (at least in my humble opinion)
And it does sound great! And , thanks god, different enough from my Gretsch and Ludwig to "justify" having it - at least to myself ;)
The owner of my current drumshop of choice (he´s also a drummer of course)has aquired these a few weeks ago: a 20"12"16" set of Fullertons in Pink Strata Pearl (I think that´s what the wrap was called?) and a Dayton COB Powertone. Everything is in wonderful condition (as far as I can tell - not...
Here´s a video of my bands new Big Band project - we´ve just released our cd 4 days ago.
22,12,16,68' Ludwigs with Supra from the same year
And here is an older one with our regular lineup -we´ve been playing together for 29 years with the bassplayer replacing our original one in 2001
Yes, the set allready is in Europe where old American made drums are much more rare and therefore usually cost a lot more. Here´s a pic that I´ve gotten to look at. Seller says there´s some snare rash on the 12" and corrosion on the screws /washers inside the drums.
