Basement find- Ludwig & Ludwig - need some assistance

Hi Tama CW- thanks very much - this is very helpful. We've got the head off it now, so I'll take some pix later, and get them posted. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the original snares. Ours appears to be nickle plated - not sure how to clean that, so suggestions are always welcome. I...

Basement find- Ludwig & Ludwig - need some assistance

thanks for all of the information everyone. I think this might be a 'transition' drum - that is; the badge is from the late 20's (according to the rob cook ludwig book), yet the lugs are the ones introduced in 35/36... I appreciate the help.

Basement find- Ludwig & Ludwig - need some assistance

Thanks Bun - that make sense, as it appears to have the threaded inserts on the lugs (which were introduced about 1935). It has the "tan" oval badge. what threw me off was that it said the tan oval badge was used in the late 20's in the Ludwig book. Here is the picture of the badge.

Basement find- Ludwig & Ludwig - need some assistance

thanks for the reply guys - much appreciated. I looked inside the snare and the numbers are X606 - the X being obscured/smudged. So.. the year portion looks like 06 - what year would that be? Do you guys have some ballpark idea of what these are worth, considering the condition?

Basement find- Ludwig & Ludwig - need some assistance

A friend was cleaning up her mom's basement, and came across these drums. They are in pretty rough shape, but I think they can be cleaned up. Can some of you experts take a look at the snare. It's got the etched tan oval "USA" badge, which dates it to later 1920 (per the rob cook ludwig...

What should I list this Rogers shell kit for on Craigslist?

I'd say just sell them as is, get some cash and find the next set you want to flip. I've tried adding "missing parts" before, and it's real hard to get that extra money out of them - just my opinion. $400 seems very reasonable - you should be able to get someone interested. keep going !

Will this Dynasonic bring the money?

Ok - I guess I've gotta chime in here, because, well, because.... I had a Rogers B&B blue sparkle for sale with a BIN - I know it was probably $350 or less (picture attached). They bought it, stripped every part off of it, and listed everything separately. It came to my attention, because...

What should I list this Rogers shell kit for on Craigslist?

Just a guesstimate would be about $450, because you don't have bottom rims/heads on the toms. They are good sounding drums though, but the Rogers guys tend to collect the stuff just before this era, making these less valuable.

Premier - significance of pre-67 era

For you Premier guys - what is the significance of "pre 1967" - I see that distinction on a lot of auctions. Is this similar to Rogers "pre CBS" ?? How do you identify this era of drums, and are they built better? We've got a 12 tom and 20 BD in a Black Diamond Pearl type of finish. thanks !

Can anyone help me out and tell me what kind of floor tom this is ? Lugs look like Slingerland Radio King, and mounts look like Ludwig ? This is the only picture we have - any ideas? Thanks !

    arthritis in the thumb

I've got arthritis in my knee on my bass drum leg from years of playing, and while this hasn't fixed the problem completely, it sure has helped: I take two Osteo Bi-Flex tablets a day, and after about two weeks, I noticed a significant difference. You can get this over the counter at any major...

    Ludwig Bronze Supraphonic

I am curious because I have one of these, but I think it's from about 1978, as it has a 206xxxx serial number. I don't think Ludwig was making too many of these brass lacquer drums at about that time. Mine has a "B" stamped over the muffler knob, which I'm assuming is brass, but there is that...
