    Are Drum Cases Necessary?

I like Earl Palmer's method, who must have packed his drums for what...a few thousand sessions?

    Are Drum Cases Necessary?

Transporting on your own to weekend gigs. No. I use a case only for the snare and cymbals.

OT: Who Do You Think Will Replace Alex Trebek?

This is a litmus test, with the audience ratings helping them choose a permanent host. My guess is Jennings will get the nod full time eventually.

Ringo 39,500.00 1963 black oyster jazz fest 5.5x14 1 of 5 known including Ringo's, what's your honest value in todays market?

Why doesn't Ringo use a Jazz festival anymore? If I look at his Ringo Allstarr bands kits, I don't think those are JF's

How Would You Choose a Winner of the Neil Peart Memorial Drum Scholarship?

The person writing the best lyrics. If its a Neil Peart scholarship, you have to be able to put pen to paper.

Ringo 39,500.00 1963 black oyster jazz fest 5.5x14 1 of 5 known including Ringo's, what's your honest value in todays market?

No not at all odd. I'm reading that tape measure and its bang on 5.5" edge to edge. The 5 3/8" goes up to edge of the wrap.

Ringo 39,500.00 1963 black oyster jazz fest 5.5x14 1 of 5 known including Ringo's, what's your honest value in todays market?

Depth (5.5 versus 5) and badge placement (relative to lug). Much ado about a snare drum.

Why are there crinkles in the drum head even when perfectly tuned?

OP, I am guessing you tune your drums rather low? That wrinkle would come out at where I tune my drums. Either way, a slight bend in a hoop or uneven bearing edge could create that crinkle. IF the drum sounds good to you, play on.

    Easy Livin Shuffle

4 on the floor, shufflin both hands. I'd say the drums are mixed down on the record. This guy Barry usually does things very well and fairly accurately.

OT: Who Do You Think Will Replace Alex Trebek?

Steve Gorman, Justin Timberlake ...but seriously, you need somebody who can gently admonish some of the contestants like Alex did. I hope they try somebody we've never heard of, with no history.

    Sound proofing a condo bedroom...

You need a room in a room. In your case a completely new ceiling below that ceiling and a floor above floor, and ideally all walls within the walls. As it stands vibration will also move up all your walls even though nobody on the other side. Also, have you inquired if you are permitted to...

    Zildjian Gospel pack

Maybe they work well for those with 'gospel chops'.... maybe. Sorry, my view is most cymbals work most places.

Where's the Tama HP 50 thread?

I bought one in March. Very adjustible for heights of 18, 20, to 24 bass drums, not heavy and seems very well made like most Tama items - and inexpensive. Simple, easy to adjust and after a couple weeks trial have it dialed in perfectly. I have nicer pedals but really like this one. If you're a...

    Neil Peart Soundcheck Video

Does naybody else play with their hi hat that far off to the left of the snare? Maybe he had long legs but it seems worlds away from the snare. I don't think many drummers had his stamina. Playing hard for hours.
