so Acro, and a deep maple, and a brass piccolo, and i should be set? I am going to keep watching this, and when something pops up i will check with you guys.
Cheers, i will keep you updated.
i snagged a chad smith signature pearl for $70. slightly off topic, but I dig it. It was really dirty, so i spent an hour cleaning and buffing and lubing the lugs and it not only looks good now, but sounds good.
The heads were in decent shape and the snares were brand new, so i figured that i...
I think I will look for an acrolite. It seems semi-unaminous. Good price point.
I could not live with a 14x8" I don't think. That's a little physically larger than I care for, and it's hard to find stands that are low profile enough to have an 8" deep drum and sit right in zone where I like my...
Figured it out. My apologies for not googling first.
How does this one look? INDe - Independent Drum Labs Seamless Aluminum Brushed Aluminum https://reverb.com/item/26000976-inde-independent-drum-labs-seamless-aluminum-brushed-aluminum?utm_source=android-app&utm_medium=share
My Ludwig snare is birch IIRC.
I want to cover any base.
Thanks for the recommendations.
I have been thinking about an acrolite,so that is confirmed. Thanks!
What would you recommend for maple snare? I am partial to Ludwig and gretsch, but I will get what does the job best at the best price...
I have not been around for a while but I have been drumming. I finally got my cymbal combination how I like it, I will post a picture sometime soon. Snagged a few k-customs and such.
BUT I am looking to get some more snare drums. Right now all I have for snares is a:
Pearl Sensitone Elite...
Maybe I should have said that I am primarily a guitarist.
As an amateur drummer I acknowledge that Lars is overrated and underperforming in EVERY way.
As a guitarist, the albums are iconic, but even Hammett and hetfield are just 'ok' at best.
I play a jazzy/rockish blues as a guitarist, and...
I am not nearly as experienced as most, but I love my 14x6.5" blue and olive badge Ludwig snare. It is a three ply with reinforcement rings. I got it pretty cheap too.
I again want to reiterate that I am not as experienced, but it is a really nice drum I have a lot of time on.
Personally, while I am not a big Metallica fan, the gong on the beginning of "Wherever I May Roam" was the first thought when I opened this thread.
Side note. kill em all, lightning, and puppets are great albums. I hated justice and everything since.
GC had a Fryette Sig:X amp head for $400 with a picture of a cab. Needless to say there is no Sig:X specific cab. Let's just say that the listing was for a cab and not a head that usually goes for >$1200. How they labeled that I have zero clue. I didn't call them, this is what a guy posted on a...
No bass or tom? That would be tricky for me.
I keep reanalizing what I would need. I would at least need a tom or bass. I could go with hats and no other cymbal if I had to. I could make it so I would put the top hat high so I could use the bell on it for accent. So bass snare and hats.
I definitely agree. That is a solid point.
Some people also go way too far with what they need for a gig. I have seen too many local drummers bringing a 7 piece kit with 6 cymbals that for the intent of the gig is just more than necessary for what they need. In addition to that some hog the...
After further consideration I could get by with a bass, snare, one tom, hats, and one other cymbal. Or just a single ride with rivits and no hats.
I really get inspired using the least can so i am forced to be more creative
