Just got a quote back from a very reputable Gretsch dealer for some add on drums and was told it was a 14-15 month wait for any new orders.

Gretsch was always on the slower side but damn! I know it’s not their fault completely, world is pretty wild right now, but had to pass on that one.

Figured I’d give y’all a heads up if anyone was looking to put in an order. Probably should do it sooner than later…

Not that it really matters but is this extended wait period just for "add-ons"? What about new orders for say Brooklyn's or USA Custom's?

Man, ten months for my Star Walnuts. It almost broke me. I couldn’t wait longer than that. Man! Used looks better and better. I was lucky to find a used Broadkaster in perfect condition that didn’t break the bank.

I put in a couple star walnut orders. 6 month wait I was told. Earliest will be around Christmas. We shall see if it’s really only 6 months…

You can always pass the time (15 months) watching these unboxing videos.

I ordered my USA Custom kit in late August 2021 and received it late April 2022. Well worth the wait .

I waited 10 months for my former Yamaha PHX well before the Pandemic hit .

Seems the rule not the exception. Maxwell posted that the next bank of Vistalites on order won't be in til April.

I'm not in the market anymore but if I was buying in this environment I'd be looking at what is in stock in a shop or mint used. Especially the smaller shops (plug for phillydrum.com - Brandon has a sweet little Ludwig mahogany kit 18-12-14, and Maxwell just posted he is on order for similar "Art Blakey" kit. Nothing against Steve, but if you wanted one now, in minty condition, well there's a shop with that kit).

Reminds me of the early 1970s when you went to car dealer and custom-ordered "your" car - and then waited....and eventually asked "what's on the lot?"

Perhaps LSP folding hit percussion related businesses close to home and they're erring on the side of caution.

Thanks but not the sizes needed to add onto my USA kit. Trying to get some bigger sized drums for my 13/16/22’s

I think part of the issue, if not the main issue entirely, is getting the metals/lugs to outfit the kits. Most companies are outsourcing lugs, tension rods, washers, and getting them right now seems to be quite difficult for companies across the board.

Wow....14 to 15 months? Now I'm starting to worry! I ordered a 12 x 8 Brooklyn tom with a white marine pearl wrap back in June. I'm on week 16 however I was originally told that the special order would be approx 20 weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed!
