Here are the 1983 Keller shelled MX's that I recovered in Titanium Sparkle. Originally 9X13, 10X14, 16X16 & 16X24. I added an 18X16 and the slightly earlier concert toms. The "Made in USA" Keller shells were used for a short time while Pearl was moving their production in Japan.

So are these drums MX series, late 70's or early 80's ? Seller says they are maple but there are no long and thin "Maple shell" badges on them. I could drive 20 minutes and pick them up. He has not replied to my message yet asking what series they are.

Many thanks, Stu

Bass drum has 10 lugs. Also the bass drum spurs don't look like any pearl ones i have seen.

Bass drum spurs are not original. I guess it's a pre-BLX 6-ply birch kit, early 80s. Maple drums usually had "Maple Shell" badges. I have a great sounding kit from that era with the same badges. There are paper tags in Japanese language inside the shells.

Thanks for that. I am inclined to let this kit pass by because the seller has less than brilliant feedback score, has ignored my last message inquiring about if they are actually maple and the spurs look like some 1980's Premier ones that i used to have on an APK kit.

Never mind. I only need a bass drum now to complete my early 80' export kit.

Awesome! Those are great sizes in my opinion. Would be a blast to set them all up, but my personal favorite right now is 2 up, 2 down, and single bass. 13", 14", 16", 18", and 24".
