Hi guys. Just recently purchased said drum above and wondering if anyone else had run into them before?
Ps the thing is killa!
Ps the thing is killa!
It’s what I’m getting mateI’ve never seen anything like it. I’d assume it was a custom order mainly since the largest triple flanged hoops I’ve seen is 20”.
Also like old and new slingerland rims… still triple flange and legit so happy daysAnd that hoop has a turned-in edge ala S-hoop or a sticksaver?
Bass drum skins won’t fit in triple flange rims due to the width of the metal collar. Only Tom heads will…. Trust me I tried it with a bass drum headI think that head is pulled down to within an inch of it's life OR more-likely maybe- it's a bass drum collar head....

That would explain the source of the 22” triple flanged hoop. I’ve never seen marching tenors that large and couldn’t image carrying a set but my jr high had a set of stainless Ludwig tenors that I (unfortunately) carried. They were 14/16/18 and were undoubtedly the worst drums I’ve ever played. They utilized the same sliding clip mounts that were used on stationary concert toms. Those mounts were acceptable for drum sets but when used on marching drums, the tenors would sway like a large braless woman. They made 16”x22” Timp Toms so a floor tom would be very possible. So cool!
They do make bass heads with tom collars. I recently pickws up a Super kick 16" for a FT to bass conversion (with bass hoops). Sort of the reverse thing but it works just fine and the FT hoops fit over it too. Normally the bass head collars are too thick and metal tom hoops won't work.
I think having an 18/20/22 set of FT's would be totally sweet and satiate my desire to own a tympani(s)..... I suppose I could flip three bass drums on their side and add my 24" bass as
18”How deep is that beast?

Ours were stainless steel. They were like walking around with three garbage cans held together with rope. At least the next year the high school had COW Slingerland tenors in 12/14/16 and those things were built like tanks.Hahahaha
My school had those too; same sizes. Heavy to carry and sounded terrible. Awful in every way imaginable. Were they green sparkle? Did we go to the same school?
