I am interested in purchasing a 24 incher and thought I would canvas up some opinions. I should state that I love ride cymbals in general.
Presently, I have:
(2) A Zildjian 26" (1 heavy and 1 med/heavy) - I like them very much.
(2) A Zildjian 20" (1 heavy and 1 med/heavy) - they are fine
(1) A Zildjian 22" (heavy) - least favorite
(1) Paiste 20" power ride - "Top favorite"

I am thinking that a 24" might be the ticket, but have never owned nor played one. I see Musicians Friend gets a whooping $660 for a Paiste formula 602 24". I am a fan of Istanbul hihats and crashes, but for the record, do not like the sound of their 24" signature ride.

If you own and play a 24" I'd like your opinions. If you've tried them and don't like, I'd like to hear those opinions as well.

Thanks in advance

I own a 24” Giant Beat and really like it. It rides, it crashes. A very smooth, enchanting, subdued note.

I have also owned 24” 602 ME and 2002 and sold them both. Very heavy, pingy, harsh note. There is no give to either cymbal and they are both uncrashable.

Paiste 602’s are buttery with velvet layered with unicorn fur. Did I mention that 12” of memory foam is underneath?

But 600 clams is a BUNCH of money.

Maybe a Giant Beat or the AVH Big Ride?

I have owned two 24” ride cymbals and they were a reissue 602 Medium ride and a Masters Deep Groove ride - of the two I far preferred the Masters . It is a very versatile ride that can cover a lot of different styles and doesn’t wash out like the 602 Medium ride .

A 24” Istanbul Mehmet Legend is a lovely cymbal unless you’re looking for something trashy. They seem to weigh in the 2800-2900 range.

I have several; Dream Contact small bell, Zildjian Ping, Sabian AA Bash and HH King. Also have 23" ZIldjian Sweet and a 26" Paiste Giant Beat. The Bash seems to get the most playing time.

I have had a 24” 2002 Big beat that was nice but way to washy on the ride part. 24” Paiste Alpha that was more my sound but they take up real estate.

I still have a 24” Meinl MB20 pure metal ride that is dry metal bliss but again taking up space so it’s for sale for one third of 602.

I have the 24” Dream Bliss small bell flat top ride and really like it.
I had an opportunity to play a 26” Dream ride and it was killer. Open, wash, shimmer, good definition and dynamics, soft on the hands, fun to crash.

I asked the guy, what is Dream, who makes these?

He said; the Chinese...and they’ve been making cymbals longer than anyone.

24" is my second favorite next to a 22". I have a 24" K Light that is very "mystical". If that makes sense, haha.

I currently have a 24" Giant Beat and love it. Rides great, crashes well. Great shimmery smooth sound as are the 18" and 20" crash cymbals I have.

I had a 24" 2002 and it was a nice cymbal, very glassy. I liked it a lot, but didn't love it. I sold it.

Zildjian 24 A Medium Ride redesign. I traded my 24 k light for it a few years ago with a forum member. It hasn't left my cymbal stand since its arrival!
I have no desire to replace it, I suggest you get a 24" ride you won't regret it.
Is that the k light I have? I swapped a 24 A for a 24 K on cymbalholic. Cheers if so!!

Amen. I have owned and played a LOT of 24s, which is one of my favorite sizes. That Dream Bliss model beats out every other 24 that I have owned or played, including a K Constantinople light ride, a few Istanbul Mehmet and Agop rides and a handful of Soultone and A Zildjian 24s.
