Knowing the weight.
If you have owned about 1,000 cymbals over the years like I, and many others have, you have a sense of what gram weight has experienced in your hands, on gigs , versus different gram weights of Same or similar cymbal models.
So for instance, i have owned so many paiste Sound Creation Dark Rides that I would never consider one at 3300 grams or above. Ive experienced those...too heavy.
Or on the other hand..Ive owned some agop at 2100 grams and it was way too mushy and no stick sound.
Then there are variations and anomalies...thats where the sound /video file comes in handy.
In the end NONE of it matters until you play it on a few gigs.
Some of my favorite gram weight/sound/video file purchases were very underwhelming on the band stand.
