Hey Guys,

I have an exceptional drum kit to offer. Minimal fade 60's green sparkle Ludwigs! 22-13-16. Its the kit in my profile pic. That pic was taken in Sound City Studios in LA. Yes, THAT Sound City. It was one of the kits available for recording sessions there. I purchased them from Don Bennett who acquired them after the studio closed. You can see these actual drums in the documentary film "Sound City" in the drum room during the interviews with Dave Grohl and others. Note: I don't have the bongos in the pic  Snare available separately. Gonna list them on reverb and maybe ebay, but special pricing here for DFO bros.
There are many pics in this link to the listing where I purchased them:
https://reverb.com/item/688583-ludwig-super-classic-1960s-green-sparkle

Price dropped to $2395 plus actual shipping (I will use your preferred carrier, insured). $100 more on Reverb so get them here!

Green Sparkle Ludwigs@ Sound City.jpg

Here is the description from Don Bennett's listing:
Ludwig 1960s Green Sparkle 22,13,16, $2,695.00 Matching Snare and Bongos Available.
This is a sweet little 60s Green Sparkle kit. This set came from the legendary Sound City Studios in Hollywood (see photo taken in their main room). The set is in great condition. No modifications. Nothing missing or broken. All original. The bass and rack tom are from around 1965 (serial #s 237XXX). The floor tom is earlier with no serial #. The finish is a near perfect match but there is an extremely slight difference that can only be seen at certain angles (see pics). The shells, finish, hardware, chrome and edges are excellent. There is a slight ding in the bottom brass hoop of the floor tom that does not affect the way the head seats in the hoop. The hoops on the rack tom are steel. Theres a slight lifting on one seam of the bass drum finish (see pic). The photographs depict the condition of the set very accurately. More photos available. I have 2 green sparkle Ludwig snares, a Jazz Festival and a Classic, as well as a set of green sparkle Ludwig bongos all available separately. Serious offers considered.

You would get your money and more if there was a list of who recorded with them, somebody has to know
I have done as much digging as I can, and cannot find anything definitive. Most album credits back then didn't list any gear used, and I can't find any photos from sessions where this set appears. I am going to search artist by artist and album by album and see if I can find any leads. For now, here is a list of major recordings that were done with this as one of the studio kits available to use:

That set was not there when we recorded.
I had trouble getting good drum sounds and they didn't have a house kit.
I called Bobby Colomby and used his BS+T set.
And, Moon Martin was in the next room with Phil Seymour on drums and I rehabbed Phil's set for producer Craig Leon. If there had been any sort of house kit (which btw most studios didn't have in those days) Craig Leon would have had it st up in a skinny minute as Phil's drums were falling apart.
This legendary set sure is a legendary set, it wasn't there in 1978.
