I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this 20 inch Stambul 65 ride cymbal at Musicgoround today - marked for a mere $49.95.
Brilliant finish, weighs in at 2095 grams. Sounds very similar to a 404 ride, just a bit cleaner. Great crash/ride. I'm just thrilled to have it! First one I have ever seen in person.....and now I can see it every day :)
No serial, no ink. Just the embossed stamp. Ever so slight hammering.

Yeah, according to Terry Keating (Bonzoleum) it was the first model that Paiste made out of B8. Not sure if it is safe to conclude mid 60s.

Yeah, John. I know we're kind of in the same general area. I'm in Hamtramck, and a bandmate/good friend is a lifer at the Troy store. They get some cool, interesting stuff there sometimes. There's a decent Dynasonic, with rail (though I can't vouch for the rail's completeness), usually some dusty, weird cymbals (which can be very interesting, as we know), tons of hardware, hardware parts, tons of amps and PA gear.

What model and were they making it from before?
Stambul was the name of a long lived series before Stambul65 came on the scene. This has caused some confusion because people think Stambul65 is just Stambul done in B8, but it seems things were a little more complicated. In the mid 60s there was a general shift from NickelSilver (NS12) to B8 across several series in the Paiste lineup. The Stambul series seems to be on both sides of the NS12 to B8 divide. The Stambul65 is done in the new B8 material.

I haven't got the list of models for Stambul or Stambul65 and those sections of the Wiki haven't been filled in yet. But given that weight of 2095g for a 20" my guess would be Medium Ride. Here is a 20" Stambul which weighs 1838g and has red MEDIUM ink

and a 16" Stambul at 1008g with black MEDIUM ink.

and a Stambul65 22" at 2900g but no ink.

Basically the ink changes, models, and such are similar to the other series of the day (thinking Formula 602 which are well studied). I'm not really the specialist on these other Paiste lines. More of a Fo602, Sound Creation, and Traditionals researcher. Hopefully some of the big guns in this area will add some info and correct any oversimplifications or omissions I've made.
