Amazon has 3 Gretsch Renown kits at a nice price w/ 2-day s/h

Gretsch Renown Vintage Pearl 14x24, 9x13, 16x16 (RN2-R643-VP)
Brand new $1020.04

That's an awesome deal. I think the Renowns have almost doubled in price since I got mine 5 years ago.
Good chance you'll only get one box, but if you're looking to get a set like this it's worth the effort. If you have to return them due to a missing box, you'll be disappointed, but not out any $.

Another great Gretsch Renown deal. These are excellent snares.

These 18" bass drums just kill me. But I guess that's a good enough price on a nice brand new kit to give it to someone to cut down.

If I recall correctly, the Renowns use the slightly larger USA Custom style lugs vs the smaller Catalina lugs. This poses a problem when cutting down because the lugs extend beyond 4" from the bearing edge. If you are okay with a 13" deep drum, that should be able to be done, but 14" depth falls somewhere within the existing lug location.

Anyone else snag some of these? I've been playing them all week. I could instantly tell they were some of the nicest hats I've ever played.
I did! Mostly based on what has been said here about em. They are probably the nicest hats I've played. I find myself liking these hats even more than my 14" New Beats, and the NB's are very solid hats.

There is a shimmering quality to the sound of these that I find hard to describe but which sounds very appealing. The "chick" is great, and sloshing them against each other produces great sounds. They are easy under the stick and I find them easier to control than my New Beats as well.

Highly recommended.

Absolutely agree. Not to take over the thread but I had previously thought I had struck gold with some hollow logo New Beats that were just perfect.

These are THE sound I've heard for years when drumming in my head.
