Another hi hat stand?

Nick Manoloff hi hat stand. Check out the clutch.
I don't have hi hats out at the moment but can't figure out how this will tight onto the top cymbal.
Smokey is enjoying the blanket!

Can you add a clearer picture of the top cymbal holders?
You may be missing a peice I can't tell. Nor can I tell if the bottom peice with the felt can screw up to the top peice.
If so add a correct big felt on the bottom peice where the rod goes into the shaft.

It's a Nick Manoloff, Chicago, Ill. stand. Here is a close-up of the clutch. The bottom is fixed, only the top is adjustable (or vice-versa). It is as tight as it will go at the moment.

so you make up the difference with washers? rubber and felt?.

Here is a pic of a similar W&A clutch I found on eBay. I think JDA wins the gold star for his efforts today.
Looks like it takes (4) felts minimum.
