I went to buy a drumset in town once..and they had a late 1800s banjo I bought for around $250…got around $1,100 for it on eBay…

I didn’t know they went back that far!

IN it, not OF it
hmmmm...not a 'collector', but a player...i have a 1940s 'only 100 made/patent pending' weirdo tenor called a platofone...very cool metal (nickel) resonator plate behind the head (calf of course :) )...also have an early 60s gibson 6 string and in the process of procurring this incredible gem...not vintage but cooler than cr-p!

Got this old wall hanger... an old Bakelite backed Harmony 5 string... from the '60s.

I think banjos are pretty cool... for planters or wall hangers.

What's difference between a trampoline and a banjo?

You have to take off your shoes before jumping on the trampoline.

I drummed in a country band in the late 70's... we had a hot banjo/guitar player so we did a few bluegrass type tunes per set.

The guitar/banjo guy always broke strings (he had about 5 instruments on stage), so he would be putting on new strings all the time on break.

Well, he finally convinced me to restring the banjo when he broke strings on that one. It seriously cut into my break time!

After all these years I still remember the tuning...
G D G B D low to high

He would always have to play the banjo standard song FOGGY MOUNTAIN BREAKDOWN (it is kinda the WIPEOUT of banjo), which he hated and called... "Flog your dolphin breakdown". Yuk Yuk

My daughter's father-in-law toured with Bella Fleck....

They played in Tokyo, the far east, and Europe.

Somebody likes Banjos!
