Has anyone tried a staccato ride? This is the first new Zildjian I’ve seen in a long time that doesn’t milk its tradition.

I like the way you said that; it tells me how a Younger Generation
has seen/observed recent years Of Zildjian.

You think they've chased (w/k) the Old K ( 1978-2021) long enough..
( i say in the thread above they now appear to have set their sights on B)

From what I’m hearing, you can’t pull a bad sound out of this crash (ride) ride (crash).

A more compelling cymbal from Zildjian I have not heard in recent years. At least not a newer model.

I think it might be a nice cymbal, but I couldn't tell squat from that horrible video on MyCymbal. Is it just too much trouble to play a simple pattern or two without using the side of the stick to crash. every. single. hit?

There’s a 20” prototype on reverb for like $260.

I could not resist and picked that 20” up on Reverb.

About 2100 grams.

Interesting cymbal. It has the ping of an A with the wash of a K.

It is not a sound spectrum covered by any of my other cymbals, but not what I expected it to be.

These are touted as a blend of a regular ride with flat ride sticking. Indeed I do hear some of that. It’s marketed as being able to crash and then come right back to reveal the stick definition. I’m on the fence on that but need to play it more in a musical context.

I have at least a three -month dating period with any cymbal before I take it home to meet the family.

With the Dark Thin ride, which is the base model, it was not the full-on edge crash, but the shaft crash that surprised me. Sounded like a smaller crash hidden in the ride sound.

Finally got some more time using this ride, and, wow, a most enjoyable instrument.

Really tangy pingy ting thing with some electric sizzle in the wash.

And ya: You are right, Seb77, that shaft crash is something quite unique and is inspiring me.
