Anyone else dislike black drums?

I have a great looking black lacquer Gretsch snare drum.

True. I have the 75th anniversary snare but not the full kit.

Still stunning, and maybe even more so because its actually not SOB. Like the Black Maple from the original Maple Custom Absolute, but darker. Classy.

This one from Mapex is killer too (and so is its sound)

To me, nothing classier than a kit of black RC’s. That being said, I find black drums boring. Do I hate them? No. Do I own any? No. Done.

Black drums are like that person who isn't that pretty but has a nice personality..You like them and everything, but you find yourself looking at other sets..

There are actually very few finishes that I dislike. One of my kits (1980s Pearl MLX) is black piano lacquer and looks super classy, especially with the chrome hardware on and around it.

However, I’ve never really liked black hardware on drums. Gun metal is a big maybe, but the flat or glossy black just doesn’t appeal to me.

Agree, I made that mistake once - although the black hardware would've looked a bit less garish if the finish was not sunburst !

I think sunburst can be done properly with Black Chrome hardware.

Not me. Dislike black drums that is. I love my black nitron SSB Gretsch kit. In fact, I was telling my wife at my gig yesterday that if I only had one kit, it would be this one.

I remember seeing the film Ladies & Gentlemen The Rolling Stones in ‘74 and seeing the Stones live the first time in ‘75, and Charlie was using his black SSB Gretsch kit. I had to have one.

No..
nope, black is the best. Matte black is my favorite. No it’s not original at all or super interesting. But there’s a soft spot in my heart for anything matte black.

Worked for Charlie and Steve with the Stones.
Keith Moon's black Premier kit looked great together with the rest of the backline.

Chrome works great as a contrast to the black, IMO.
