Anyone have any experience with these snare stands?

A few years back, Hamilton re-released a supposedly updated version of their classic KB274 model snare stand, has anyone here ever used one of the reissues? I always meant to check one out cause I like the look but I never got around to it and now they're seemingly discontinued once again...any opinions on the build quality? Thanks!

I picked up a couple of them a few years ago when they were on clearance. I think they are better suited as concert snare stands rather than drum set stands since they don't go very low. It's also bulkier than it might seem from photos, so it was a little harder to get comfortable behind. I tried it as a tom stand, but it doesn't go small enough for a 12" tom. Good build quality though.

Good to know, thanks!

I’ve got a few of the original ones. Hamilton stands were made right down the road from me for 150+ years so I usually hang onto them. As stated above this model is more of a concert snare stand.

I’ve got a couple of the old ones. They work pretty well as tom stands (with 13”,14”, or 15” never tried smaller). The base is kind of wide and annoying as a snare stand with a kit

I agree with all of the above posts. I used these stands in the 60's in elementary, middle, and high school. They are great concert height stands, especially if you add a memory lock just to be safe. They are perfect for larger diameter drums if you need to mount a 15" drum or larger. I see performers on traditional rope tensioned field drums using these stands.

In fact I loaned one to the percussionist who is currently playing the Sweeny Todd show on Broadway. The part called for a galvanized wash tub and we auditioned several metal sounds in my garage, including a small oval shaped galvanized tub that I use to hold the car washing materials. We ended up choosing an aluminum dish pan that I got from my folks and use to hold (and water) the natural Christmas tree on the back patio until we bring it in the house. It is played upside down and I was worried when we measured it and it was 17" in diameter. But the Hamilton stand came though and it and the wash basin are the closest I will ever get to being on Broadway.
