Played this past weekend on a private and very rural 6 acre property with a psychedelic stage in the yard. Crazy humidity and a few technical difficulties spiced things up a bit, but it was a great experience playing to a very appreciative audience. Photographer there caught me right in peak goofy drummer face!

I’m playing a similar gig this weekend in the mountains of NC for some great folks, true music lovers!

We play midnight Saturday, and it’s a different band than I normally play with, a “one off” jazz fusion trio with one rehearsal. Some of the more difficult songs I’ve learned in a while. Here is our setlist, mixed in with some improv jams

Sexy Dance- Masayoshi Takanaka
JLR- John Patitucci
My friend fats- Primus
You know, you know- Mahavishnu Orchestra
Big Block- Jeff Beck
L the Bruce- Adam Roger’s

No small feat with drummers ranging from Cobham, Bozzio, Nate Smith and Brian Blade!

Tonight is the first time I have played at a pumpkin patch. Must admit that setting up on a grass bank tilted forward was not a fun thing. We got through it though.

I have an outdoor gig this evening, mostly old school rock & roll, rockabilly & blues. Since it's fall & who knows what hurricane Fiona is going to bring I'm hauling a version of my Ludwig mini kit. Feel free to laugh your AO: 10" Birch Classic (90's), 14x12 marcher (early 70's) on a Worldmax cradle, 18x10-ish (later 70's) cut from an 18" FT, "64 SS, 14" Sabian HHX Stage Hats, 16 & 18 Sabian HHX Studio crashes & a crashable 20" 60's A ride

Agreed! I once had to set up on a farm trailer that wasn’t level. Tilted slightly from right to left. It wasn’t noticeable from the audience, but from the throne it felt like 45 degrees! Fought it all night and was miserable for 3 sets, and sore the next day.

My band opened up for Pablo Cruise last night at one of the local theaters. Good times.

I was going to say it needs to somehow figure into the show, perhaps a band member descending while shooting off some fireworks after the encore. It's simply too good not to take advantage of it!

It was in the contract that nobody was allowed in the pool from the time we loaded in, until the time we left. I figured we had a 50/50 chance of one of the guests breaching it, but shockingly, nobody jumped in.

a few summer's ago I played a water park 5 days a week.the park had one "ride" that was simulated surf conditions where patrons rode on boogie boards.
one day while on break I went over to watch the action.I soon figured out that bikini clad patrons ran the risk of losing their tops or having their bottoms pulled down thanks to being wiped out by the surf...
that ride became the band's "break room"...it was worth standing in blistering heat for...
