Yup, watched it as a kid, from back when it was called 'Sunday Night' (then 'Night Music'). Omar is easily one of my biggest influences. So many amazing guests; Miles, SRV, RHCP, Toots, Booty's, Sun Ra, on and on it goes. This show had a massive affect on me as a musician. I can remember sneaking downstairs, late on Sunday nights, to watch it. I still have all the episodes on VHS tapes, somewhere haha.

I always thought ( think) that the SRV clip is 1) some of the baddest sheeet every to be on network tv. and 2) made possible by Hiram Bullock's rhythm guitar. He just brings it to Stevie in the 2nd guitar slot, doubling the bass line thru the whole song is a deep pocket. I doubt Stevie ever had that behind him before or after..

I was a kid watching one night, and saw this band I'd never heard of called "The Red Hot Chili Peppers". I was blown away.

It wasn't much longer after this that they really blew up.
