For completely designing something other than a variation on something pretty standard - the Yamaha Akira Jimbo snare.

I wanted to love the 15" JR Yammy but didn't. Liked the Bordin copper but didn't care for the aesthetic.

It'd have to be something unusual to catch my eye. The new Greb brass looks very interesting.

I kinda hate having someone's name on my gear though!

I am "planning" to like the new Peter Erskine snare from Tama ;-)
I'm interested in that one too! Any idea when it's going to be available? I can't find it anywhere for sale yet.

Hoshino USA tells me mid August is the first delivery. As everything gets delayed these days, let's say September :)

I have one of the original Steve Gadd maple snares (I think, black metal hoops). I like the sound of the drum but I just can't seem to get a snare sound that I like.

Anyone have the Taylor Hawkins snare? As a huge Foo fan, that one has always piqued my interest, but I've never really seen anyone comment on it anywhere.

Think it's 'just' a cheap steel shell designed to appeal to younger/ budget conscious fans of his, a la the Pearl Chad Smith.

My favorite signature is my Gretsch USA Custom Stanton Moore Signature.

In fact it just might be my favorite snare. It is certainly in my top two or three that I own, and currently I have forty one at my disposal.

4 1/2" deep single ply Birdseye maple shell, and die cast hoops...

In no particular order:
1. Tama Stewart Copeland - magnificent brass drum.
2. Tama Simon Phillips Gladiator, black nickel-over-bronze.
3. Bun E. Carlos Ludwig Legacy Maple Citrus Mod Glitter.
