Hello to all,

Have any of you heard of Barry Jenkins ? He replaced John Steele in the Animals circa 1966. Anyhow, while I liked JS's playing Barry Jenkins brought such a tight sound to the group.
Originally in the Nashville Teens (from London) . I just finished the thread on overplaying and consider him to be the 180 opposite of an overplayer. Just perfect.

I'm trying to replicate the sound of his snare . It had such a resounding crack (Hey Gyp) . Is anyone familiar with the snare he used. I know his set was a Ludwig 4 piece but that's about it.

Cheers

I recall hearing of him back in the 60's.

Looks like he hung in there for a bit, then opened a music store.

If he bought an off the rack Ludwig kit, he likely had an aluminum shell Supra. The crack is perhaps a function of him hitting rimshots. If he played as shown here -

Then it looks like that's what he did, because once the left stick came up past 90 degrees or so, it's pretty natural to hit a rim shot from that position.
