So where did these old Ks come from that Billy brought out as in post #1 later days...at home with Charles Lloyd.
From his Time with Ornette Coleman?

Then we must go there..

Like I said...
I could be wrong about everything.

I rarely pay much attention to other peoples gear, I have a hard enough time remembering what I played on a specific gig. I could have sworn it was a 20.

Sorry, I'll shut up now.

OK. Maybe I already have what I'm looking for?

20" Paiste Masters Dark Crisp with a 5" x 2" piece of painters tape underneath
22" paiste signature mellow ride. 8 rivets
VF SD2 bolero stick (sorry joe)

Anyone want to take a stab at his 20" left side?

Era?
Weight?

Its so "perfect"

In related news - this DVD ("Home") is worth tracking down, I bought it as soon as it was available back then. (Prolly all on youtube these days, tho.)

On a side note. I think this angle and camera set up and Stereo Volume is the way to go to make videos for me.

Yes?

That Dark Crisp with the Riley stick sounds good to me! Boleros add their own thing to any cymbal, Rileys are more like 5A, which seems to be the middle-of-the-road sound.

When you put the mic "behind the stick" you get more wood click in relation to cymbal sound, which is how most overheads pick up ride cymbal sound, but is actually not how you hear a cymbal unmic'ed from the audinece perspective, where you get much less wood click and more metal and wash.

I think im just going to have Jesse Simpson work this into a 1900 gram or so "old K"

I dont think it needs any hammering. I love everything about it except the weight.
Or you could just get a 20" Paiste Masters Dark Ride, which consistently comes in around 1940g.

Mods never sound great to my ears. A cymbal was designed a way for a reason.
