In the past few days I've been notified that I'll play my first jazz gigs since October soon. And also the workshop I'll teach in summer has been confirmed to take place - as have some gigs with my rock band. Feels really good!!!
So I decided to put some new heads on my "bop set". And doing so I once again have noticed that, as nice and cool looking old ambassadors are on these kind of drums, new ones actually really do sound better! I just always forget in the 3-5 years unusually leave them on
Running the 25th Anniversary cymbal Agop made for Memphis Drum shop. Has the Agop smokey thing in spades with a bell that is loud and clear (sometimes it feels like these characteristics have to be mutually exclusive on Agops?). The bell comes in really handy when getting weird faux Latin vibes going with the ancient Ludwig concert toms.
Posted this earlier, but it seemed to get lost somehow.
Just got set up in my new drum room, so figured a new bird's eye view was in order. These are my Gretsch Brooklyns in 8", 10", 12", 14" and 20", with a 6.5" x 14" hammered black beauty. Cymbals are all Avedis reissues, including an 18", 19", 21" and 15" hats.
