Don't think that I've posted this.

Church gig this morning with a great piano trio and killer gospel singer. Sabian XSR hihats, Evolution 18” crash, Istanbul Mehmet 22” Classic 70’s ride, HHX 22” complex medium ride with sizzle chain.
I just got the Mehmet from @Murat at Drummers Hangout and it might be a quiver killer ride cymbal - plays way lighter than it is but has a beautiful clear stick with just the right amount of dark-ish wash underneath. I have a feeling this is rapidly going to become my most versatile ride. The HHX is also new to me (bought it used but in mint condition) and is actually a lot like the Istanbul but a bit washer and more complex (duh). Another beautiful cymbal that will be with me a long time I think. Also auditioned another couple of new-to-me rides today - A Paiste Dark Energy MkI 20” and an Crescent (Sabian) Wide Ride 20” - both interesting but not quite the right cymbal for the gig. Paiste felt a bit too dark but also metallic/clangy (don’t know if that makes sense) once the volume increased, and the wide ride had a bit less focus than I was looking for - it’s a very nice cymbal but also plays a bit heavier/stiffer than I was expecting. That one might just need some breaking in.

I mentioned in the Office thread it was great to be back out for the start of the 2023 season after an 8 week holiday break! My Istanbul Mehmet / Turkish rig. 15" hats, a 22' 70's series ride and 16,17,18 & 19" crashes. Still looking for an interesting replacement for the 19" on my far right. I dont want a China as H&O tracks did not use any China, but something from Mehmet that is an interesting crash option a little different from the other 3.

I've shared news of my new kit elsewhere, but have re-arranged my drum room to accommodate it and share the view here.
To accompany my Gretsch Brooklyns (8, 10, 12, 14, 20) I recently picked up a player's Ludwig classic in 13, 15 and 24 inch sizes. The Brooklyns are super versatile, but now that I have the big Ludwig kit, I've pared down the Brooklyn kit and put some Ambassadors on it, tuned up high as a bop kit. The Ludwigs have Emperors and are tuned low and fat. While the Brooklyns did that pretty well too, it's nice to be able to alternate between them without having to constantly change heads and tuning. Just need another set of hats and another bass pedal to eliminate any further swapping of parts. Also looking forward to having my uncle or nephew over (both drummers) and being able to play with them, side by side.

Alright, anther Mehmet fan! Nice set up!

Absolutely. Thanks for the kind words!
I owned a large set of Mehmet’s years ago which I loved, but unfortunately they weren’t quite right for what I was playing at the time (chose models I most liked the sound of, rather than what worked for the music).
The handmade Turkish cymbal itch had still been there even since though and these cymbals work beautifully for my current projects.
Now to expand the collection.... B)
