Did gretsch custom make 16 inch bass drums in the 60's?
...yes, on a special order basis...

...since 2009, gretsch has made available a 16x14 bd (usa custom series)...

...since 2014, steve maxwell has made available a "jazz legends" kit that features a 16x12 bd (to replicate the 1960s special order bd's)...

Brian Blade = Bad @ss

I read that was a 6.5x15 two piece Ludwig - anyone know for sure?

Hard not to smile at Mr. Blades' expressiveness and enthusiasm as he plays...a joy to behold.

Beautiful set as well, I love that finish.

Yes, it is. I have one.
Can you compare it to the 14"? Is it 1" louder ;) LOL

I have a 5x14 NOB and it's one of my favorite drums. I'd love to put stick to a 6.5x15. What are your thoughts about the drum.

Thanks,

Jeff

If anything, it's darker due to the larger diameter. I love it. Had to take off the gut wire and replace with standard metal wires. Love it. One of a kind drum.
