I clicked on the link for that Premier kit and saw it‘s been sold. I was hoping if I read through the end of this thread, I’d see a message from OP saying he bought it. That would’ve been a good choice.

I feel like there should be a pinned thread for first-time kit buyers because the answers are always the same. Buy used. Buy the best cymbals you can afford. A Zildjians or AA Sabians. Yamaha Stage Custom drums if you can swing it, etc.

Coming from an electronic kit, i'm looking to buy my first acoustic set. I'm an intermediate player so I don't really want a low quality kit but I have a budget of $1100
I've researched and narrowed my choices down to:

1. Pearl Export $800 AUD: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/wishart/percussion-drums/pear-export-complete-drum-kit/1228629702
2. PDP Custom Maple $1100 AUD: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/hillcrest/percussion-drums/pdp-maple-drum-kit-with-zildjian-cymbals/1227825339
3. Pearl 1989 World Series with Remo Pinstripe heads $800 AUD: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pre-Loved-Pearl-World-Series-6-Piece-Black-Drum-Kit-with-Hardware-and-Cymbals/283632858666?hash=item4209d5f62a:g:N2IAAOSwowVdluy1

I would really appreciate any info and opinions anyone has on which kit is better.
I'm going to have a listen to the PDP tommorow arvo.
Johnny,

How's the hunt going?
Did you get the Premier kit or are you still looking?

What do you recommend for good cymbals? It's only for home practice and I can always just upgrade the cymbals once I get a job with steady income. I thought I should get some solid shells and hardware first.
Wuhan. Best bang for the buck. They are made with B20 bronze and hand hammered (allegedly). Buy them on Amazon. They can be hit or miss (no pun intended). So if you get a bad one send it back and get another. I played them as I was buying a Zildjian K one at a time as I could afford it. The rides are a bit gongy/washy, but nothing that some gaffer tape cant help tame.
