So those kits are both maple, right? How do they compare for weight? Are the RFMs heavier than the Yaibas to carry?

Great question - indeed, both are maple. The RFM has re-rings, the Yaiba is a straight shell interior. I’ll weigh them tomorrow, but to me the RFMs do have a bit more heft and weight to them.

They both look amazing. I'm surprised the white kit has 10 lugs on the bass. Can I get a close up of the bass drum hoops?

You can't go wrong with either of these. Canopus does not play.

I sold my Sonor Rosewood bop kit when I came across an RMV maple kit - and didn't look back. They are a serious instrument - light, well made, easy to tune and they sing like nobody's business.

I am in nearly the same boat… also trying to offload my phonic re-veneer rosewood 18/12/14 though too - all in pursuit of a single new Canopus kit. Ahhh GAS…

I too have had both phonics and RFMs. Both were great but the RFMs I tend to miss. Friggin Ferraris.

I miss my Yaiba’s…such a fine kit that punches well above its weight class…brilliance in manufacture and build quality. Same goes for the RFM…
