Recently picked up this 90’s Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute in what I’m learning is an ultra-rare Embossed Blue lacquer finish. Digging this kit! If anyone spots a matching 16” floor tom, please let me know. And laugh with me, not at me, will ya?!

Yamaha's Maple Custom Absolute in Plum Stain. The color stole my eyes and their sound stole my ears!

I like wood finishes - my current kit is a 2006 DW with Koa outer ply.

My stored kit is a 1979 Hoshino era Camco by Tama - great kit!

I have a 9x13 and 16x16 in addition, as well as 10,12,13 concert toms. The snare is a steel 5.5x14 with die-cast hoops and is at least as good as my DW 6.5x14 titanium or my Noble & Cooley 7x14 maple.

If I could justify another kit, it would be 8,10,12,14,20 in broken glass!

The reason I can't really justify another kit is that this is my usual rig -

or a Fodera, or a MTD, or a Roscoe... I gig on bass about 10x as often as I do on drums or percussion.

Although I have had others, I have always favored wood finishes....natural Maple or my current Mahogany/Walnut kit .....
