Fresh on the heels of Jeremy Spencer quitting Five Finger Death Punch to become a deputy, KISS drummer Eric Singer is now an honorary police officer. Looks like it's a trend!

From the Sacramento Bee:

Kiss Drummer Sworn Into Wharton (TX) Police Department

Rock and patrol all night?

A police department in Texas just added to its force by adding one of the rockers from KISS — sort of.

Eric Singer, a longtime drummer for the band, was sworn in as a “honorary corporal” by the Wharton Police Department, according to a Facebook post.

Singer was in full “Catman” makeup and costume for the ceremony just before the band’s concert Monday in Houston, pictures show.

Speaking of drummer cops, 50 years ago, I was a cop in the Air Force Reserves. Not on active duty, we weren't supposed to have live ammo. We did carry one bullet in our pocket, just like Barney Fife, in case anti-war hippies stormed the base, seriously.

Why on earth is this necessary ? I don't get it ? Did Eric help them with something ?
And if he did, why is this necessary ?

They are far from the first. Nokie Edwards was a honorary police captain. Hal Blaine told us at a drummers conference that he at times carried. He said he used it once at a recording session for a special effect.

Some musicians are simply patriotic. They grew up that way. And, remained so.
