I’ve always pictured an older thin A Zildjian but I don’t have any knowledge.

I played it back in the day with my 20" A, and upon re-listening today, that still sounds right.

It was a fun song to play, but it's also a good example why I've never understood how Neil Young became a superstar. The song doesn't go anywhere, do anything, or say anything. It's just a rough jam if you ask me. But it's fun to play.

The live version by Buddy Miles is just killer! He sings the sh*t of the song.

think back then everybody played the same cymbal.
a medium thin no ink 20 A ride
reminded me of .....just played (to bring out) different touch different sound

that's the thing with cymbals you can get what you want out of, by what you choose to draw out
above btw was 1971 Sammy Creason drums

Recorded and mastered at Wally Heider's in Hollywood . Were those studio owned cymbals or Molina's own ? Paiste wasn't represented nearly as much as Zildjian on the west coast . I'm still researching this , but if I close my eyes, then a medium weight 20 or 22 A.Z.appears , maybe with a coupla rivets . Maybe a 50's ? Will keep you posted .

My old friend who used to work for MD magazine is on the case too, so it won't be long ... I'm too cheap to pay for the interview with Molina as it happened .

drawing the vibe out; the cymbal is almost irrelevant
that's not a cymbal that ;sounds like that' just tapping
Has to be driven by a player.
That's how I see that CGITS

I wouldn't do that; (wouldn't) waste more than 15 minutes on it..
It's attitude of zee player. You play that song on stage you will get your-whatever is in front of you- to roar react like that.. It's attitude from player (i.e.you)
likelyhood in 69 they were all A's (in that genre) (at most) all Ringo cymbals if you will..
(Tony and euro cymbals were on the other side of the street)..
Old Pictures of Molina would be nice to see just for the halibut.

just feelin' the 20 A that everyone has..

(hard to go back to those days we were all 14.. I remember the first time seeing a local band a couple few years older than me doing Cinnamon Girl perfectly like the record... it was like o..my..God// (you can do that? ..)
very almost too emotional to revisit that sound today in 2021 but dang I just did..) ha.
Ralph says he "just picked" up the drums in that podcast
