Creative Drum Mic'ing - a look and listen! :)

I try to do an example like this every couple years for my Recording Techniques class....thought I'd record it this year. It's super fun to try and be creative and come up with some new ideas. Jump to 5:40 if you just wanna listen to the drums and bypass the rundown on the mic specifics. :)

That was fun, Funkster. Not at all what I expected to see. Except for the tub (just too much for my tastes), every one of those ideas could present some very interesting recording options. Thanks for posting this.

That was one helluva vid Funkster. That was pretty clever mic'ing to get that 808 sound!!!

Some very cool ideas.
Not so much “outside” the box ... more that the box never existed. Unbelievably clever.

I'm at the very beginning of learning to record. It's a blast, but I'm playing pee wee, while you're coaching an NFL team. Thanks for the tour, and a sample of your sounds.
