Hey guys… had to share this with the forum family. Another satisfying snare build with a beautiful DaVille shell! On these Resonate shells, the drum is lathed down to 1/4” while leaving an integral reinforcement ring top and bottom. I chose a roundover/30degree (“vintage 30”) top edge and a traditional 45 bottom… I’ve found this combination to give a really fat, warm attack with crisp snare response and sensitivity. And here she is:

6-lug 12x7 Cherry snare with Maple hoops, Champagne aluminum lugs, G.Way beertap strainer, handmade leather gaskets inside and out, Evans G12/300, phosphor-bronze wires

Here you can see the rerings that are left, while the body of the drum is turned down to 1/4”:

Love the lugs!
Thanks! Champagne has a couple styles of lugs and they’re all reasonably priced (these are 3/4”, polished). I love that they’re aluminum - super lightweight, and can always be polished back to new. I used them on a previous build and got a great result, so I figured I’d stick with a winning recipe. These shells are amazingly light, and I think keeping all the hardware light just lets the character of the wood take center stage.

This is a previous build with the same lugs and a 13x7 Walnut shell from Terry:
