I just bought some parts and spent I think $4 for a snare side head.

tempted...if its good to purchase more for different projects....they have coated and clear in a bunch of sizes. I'm curious who's making them for them...and of course how they sound.

oh...dfd=drum factory direct

I've been using the 14" coated and snare-side head for many of my MIJ snare drums in my collection. I haven't played them, but they remind me of Attack drum heads, with one exception. The DFD snare-side head, at 3mil, is superior to the Attack Medium snare-side head, which is a a very thick 5mil! I've also used the Attack Thin snare side, but they are 4mil.

These DFD heads are not pro quality, but are meant to "freshen up" a drum or kit for resale or to take pictures of the drums when you don't want any company logos showing. There are a wide range of head styles available and, honestly, I think they would work out nicely if you needed decent heads for CHEAP! Oh, and I'm not affiliated with DFD in any way...except for the fact that I've purchased quite a few items from them!
