…poor sounding name too in my opinion
You’re both entitled to your opinions but I had a Saturn V kit that was great looking and sounding
Personally, I think the whole name thing is kind of silly. I mean, "Rogers"?? But most of us grew up with that, and it's part of our history so it gets a pass. It's either good gear, or not. For years Sabian and their logo, Pork Pie's name, and other examples rub people the wrong way. With DW lugs for example, that is a visual thing. It's tough to get past a look that you don't like. But a name that no one seeing the band live is going to know from Adam? To me it's a bit of nit picking.

if the gear sounds good, looks good and is in your price range go for it.
I 100% agree

I never got a Rogers set..because it sounded like Roger Ramjet..the cartoon..
I never got a Yamaha set..because it sounded like a piano..not a drum..
I never got a Mapex set because it sounds like Mapo..the cereal..
I never got a Pearl set..well..its kinda... feminine..
I never got a Dixon set..because it sounds like ...Nixon..or Dixie..
I never got Craviatto..because it sounds like a pizza place..
I never got a Dunnett..because.. who done it?

OK..I lied about the Dunnett..I have 1 of them..but the shell was made by...Craviatto..lol..

I got a Sonor set..because it sounds like a Submarine..
I got Ludwig stuff because it sounds like WW2..
I got Camco because it sounds like some kind of toy company..
I got Gretsch stuff because it sounds like fresh vomit..
The list goes..on and on..
There are way too many drum companies..

Yes!Bill Detamore was a driving force putting DW quality to it's higher level before he left to create Pork Pie.
Dave, can we get some pics of that drum? :)
Hi Steve I recommend that everyone Google Dixon Cornerstone snare drums. You will see the beautiful hammered steel drum I speak of,along with some other beautiful and unigue snares, including wood hoop, acrylic, and combinations unlike any others! The Deep Purple sparkle drum set Greg Bisonette was playing on the last Ringo tour LOOKED AND SOUNDED GREAT!Greg uses the hammered steel and wood snares live.Lots of drum industry talent working with Dixon/Reliance including Bill Detamore,Jim Uding,Paul Damiano, and Mike Sails.I worked with Paul and Mike when I was a Kaman/Gibraltar and they are very talented music industry veterans.
