I chose ink that is connected to both sides of my life. These 5 words follow the greatest drum intro in rock and roll history. Rain is often the focus of my profession.
Cool.... and slightly OT are we getting rain next week?

I only have one tattoo as of yet, which is not directly music related, but still very rock n' roll.
Ida <3 Ninja, plus a drawing and a kiss from my niece:

A friend of mine is aspiring to become a tattoo artist, and has agreed to do John Bonham's 3 circles on my right wrist (the start of my arm of dead rock stars).
He also just finished this sketch of the cover of Chris Cornell's last album, which my sister and I are going to get on the forearm.

Devo - Duty Now For The Future on my right shoulder, X (in old English from Under the Big Black Sun) on my left shoulder. Somewhere, there are photos of Exene Cervenka & I with our matching X tattoos, back when you had to take in film to be developed. I never had copies, she probably does in a box.
Both from many moons ago when I was much younger.

No music ones but I do have em. If I had my time again they would be of drums, online I once saw someone with a radio king snare on his arm, I'm surprised the person doesn't come on this site, I thought I've got to get that, I'd put it on my outside calf. Pic is very blurry.

Music related tattoos? In 1979 I got my first one, then another one in 1987. Then nothing new.
Flash forward to 2018-2019. I redid one old one, kept the other one.
Then I got 9 new ones. Every one is music related!
Here are pictures of some of them.

The Nautical Cross has musical notes going around it , the other part of tat is a long story .
I was at a party and a guy there had a gun he talked me into adding on to it .
It’s supposed to be rays of sunshine coming through the clouds .
It felt like he was dragging a knife down my arm .
Lesson to be learned here .
Never snort cocaine and shoot whiskey with a Tattoo artist at a party ..

Ever again ....

I have a whole bunch of tattoos, a chunk of which are music related:

My first, a lyric from The Hold Steady's "Stuck Between Stations". The full lyric is:

There was that night that we thought John Berryman could fly.
But he didn't
So he died.
She said 'You're pretty good with words
But words won't save your life.'
And they didn't.
So he died.

#2: I was working at a recording studio for a while and I thought getting microphone directionality patterns would be fun. I'm still recording stuff, just not as much and not at the level that I was before. Still fun though.

#3: I love the movie "That Thing You Do!", and being a drummer it seemed like a Skitch themed tattoo would be fun. So I've got "Take Us There Skitch", the sunglasses, and a version of their logo with the ovals behind it, but lined up like the Black Flag logo.

#4: A $13 tattoo that I got on Friday the 13th one year. The arms are a 1 and a 3 if you look closely. I got it because it looks like The Replacements "Pleased to Meet Me" album cover.

#5: I'm a big fan of Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, and their music got me through a few rough patches in my teens and twenties. This has a few references to his music, "It's Alright, It's Alright, It's Alright" is repeated for about a minute in his song "Little Dawn", The Sparrow is for his song "The Mighty Sparrow", and the Gold finch is for "The Gold Finch and the Red Oak Tree"

#6: I'm a huge fan of The Weakerthans, they're a Canadian folk-punk band, for people that don't know. And in a really rough part of my life I'd listen to their album "Reunion Tour" on a loop, and one of the lyrics stuck with me. "I just wish I were a toothbrush or a solder gun, make me something somebody can use." This one wraps around a bit, so it's hard to capture in one picture, but here's the best I've got:

#7: and then the newest one. I'm a big fan of Superchunk, and their album "Majesty Shredding" is my favorite of theirs. The album has great album art, and being a guitar player too, I'm also a fan of tube amps, so I got the tube from the front cover of the album:

I also have some non-music related ones, but I figured I've posted enough, hah.
