There are members here who like to be civil and post drum-related stuff, and discuss. Then there are members who simply like dissent. VB is one of them, although he did it in a somewhat entertaining way.
Those that like the rabble-rousers, the obnoxious ones, the one ones who like to pick fights or post a lot of complaints are the ones that make life difficult for the mods, and also for those of us that like civility on the forum.
"Your right to disagree" is not your right to poop all over the forum.
You're not wrong but on the flip side there are some who get triggered over every stupid little thing and just wont let go of some things (*cough* joe *cough*). At the end of the day none of it is that important IMO.

I take myself with a grain of salt, try to obey the forum rules and try to not let comments of others bother me. I enjoy learning from the vast amount of knowledge the collective members of this site hold but I also love it when we get in a groove of good natured bantering back and forth. Some of my best laughs of the day come from this forum and I need all the laughter I can get. I understand some members may get frustrated by the same questions being asked over and over and some folks are very grey while others are black and white in opinions and ideas about brands, sizes, colors, etc. and that can cause some friction. I know everyone is not going to agree with me on my beliefs about drums, cymbals or anything else and that is OK with me.

Now, how about a Top Ten List of posts by @xtranoise that no one wanted to read anyway ...

I don't know VB outside of this forum, so trying not to judge him as a person here.

I often had the feeling that he was looking at his clickbait posts as a sort of socio-behavioral experiment for his own amusement. *Let's douse the rats in gasoline, light a match, and see what happens.*

Reeked of narcissism to me.

That was confirmed, imo, when he started resurrecting HIS OWN posts from years back just to keep throwing fuel on the fire.

We call that the shark jump. It's no longer clever... it's something pathological.

And, frankly, I was surprised at how many here willingly played along, as if wanting to be accepted into the club. In truth, the forum was being disrepected. This isn't a behavioral laboratory, it's people discussing a common interest. Humor is one thing. This is something else.

I don't wish him ill in his personal life. But I wouldn't care if he never showed up here again. The game was a little funny to me at first, but then it became annoying, obvious and ultimately predictable. Boring. That's usually the endgame.

Beware becoming the boy who cried wolf.

I joined this year and set him to ignore fairly quickly. Once I saw that his posting MO was just to take every bit of random music news posted daily on the internet and create a thread about it, it got old very quick. Hey look at me I've got nothing better to do with my day!

This forum disappears for me regularly. Seems to be related to a little red x. It aways comes back later though. Guess I better get one of my kids to explain this computer gadget to me??? And the hype about this enter net thing ...

It's just strange that he *poof! disappeared.
I wonder if he was quietly shown the door, much like another person mentioned earlier in this thread. VB seemed to relish pushing the buttons of what he percieved the DFO forum at large to be: a bunch of angry old white men who haven't listened to anything new since 1985. He would sprinkle many of his click-bait-y posts with snide insults about his personal perception of everybody here. I quickly found his posts tiresome and predictable.
In fact, I eventually started wondering if he even knew how to actually play a drum set. I never got any indication that he could - all he ever posted were links to music articles, often having nothing to do with drums or drummers. Just stoking the fire. He could easily be taking his schtick to other musical forums for the same self-amusement. All it takes is a daily Google News feed about anything music related: post link, insult, repeat and/or ressurect for further hilarity. Too easy.

That could have easily been the case.

Admittedly, I only paid half attention as I try to make my content 35% lifestyle and 65% instrument-related, most of the time falling flat on my poor attempts at humor. I, too, grew tired of clickbait.

This is turning into quite the mystery.

Was he banned? For one thing I can't tag him - @Vistalite Black - same as @JDA

(edit) pfft, now they work but their names didn't pop up like other members do.
I don't think so, his handle still shows up in a member search.
I believe your handle and stats get wiped when banned or suspended. Re-appears when re-instated.

Maybe just taking a break, sometimes you need that.
