Today I ended up near a pawn shop I’ve gotten some decent cymbal deals from before and decided to check out what they had.

I ended buying a keystone badge LM400 for what seemed like a decent price. Do any of you experts mind weighing in on the originality. Serial# 531802. It has the small knob muffler and a p-83 and surprisingly little pitting. I can’t decide if the rods and hoops are original or too clean. Any thoughts? Thanks

looks like a gem no splay and a Manny's head.
Thanks. Must have belonged to a jazz guy with all the brush wear. The snare cutout in the bottom hoop looks different than my other Ludwigs but I’ve never had a keystone era before to know if thats right. Any idea?

From my former 1 owner 1967.

Yours by serial number is around '68/'69 before the shift to the P85.....but just after the shift from the baseball bat muffler.

Looks good to me. I can't read the serial number but it looks like 531 or 631? It's in great shape. Have you inspected further to see if it's brass? Any date stamp? What is the felt?

I would love that drumhead, though!

Its 531. The shells in pretty good shape very minimal pitting and just a few scratches and no dents, but there is one pretty serious scrape right on the bead showing its definitely aluminum but I think this one is too new to be in doubt anyway. The manny’s head is pretty cool. 48th street was a magical place when I was first getting in to drums. The snare side head is marked from Drummers world. Haven’t taken the heads off yet to look for a stamp since it sounds good right now so I’m leaving it alone. Round black/grey felt muffler with the smaller knob

Swapped a fresh snare side ambassador on it today and a pretty clean vintage ambassador batter to get a better idea of what the drum itself sounds like. Pretty pleased, surprisingly dry compared to my acrolites and newer 402. There is a slight remnant of some sort of ink stamp inside but all I can make out is a 5 stamped vertically and a few traces of ink but not enough to make out a date.
