I'm just curious, does anyone use mismatched sticks, recently i dropped a stick so just grabbed another. i was using a promark 5b oak and ended up grabbing a vic firth 5b hickory. i liked the combination. it didn't really create a noticeable on the drums but on the cymbals it broadened the subtleties and response i got. i liked it. any opinions .

When I play exclusively trad grip I use a VF 55A in my left hand and a VF 5A in my right. For matched grip it's 5A's in both.

I do once in a blue moon for time playing. Might have a 2B in the left hand cross stick on the snare and a 5b in the RH on the ride. But you have to recognize that a different stick requires a different feel and touch by hand. A lighter and heavier stick requires thinking about the dynamic level as well. That can get a bit complicated outside of just reserving it for time. Every crash with either stick needs to balance and not over power the other hands work.
