Wow. What a beauty. Duplex made some cool drums. Is there a reason 15" heads wouldn't fit?
I have no idea. I don't have a 15 inch head to measure and compare to the stated 15-5/16 inch measurement. And I am not an expert in antique drums. I just know I love it! But it looks to me like, if a 15 inch head would fit, something could be done with snares that would not damage or change the shell as it is designed. Just takes a bit if ingenuity.

You are right about Duplex drums. They made some really cool stuff. Check out this one with the rims to shell design, tension system inside the shell on the last photo. Really cool.

Federal Way, Washington area. Tama Superstar super maple kit 12,13,16,18,22. Figure about $75 to replace the 12 lugs and 28 tension rods hoops. Easy to find too. Standard sizes. Starting bid $425 with local pickup only. Local pick ups almost always go too cheap.

My son is learning to play drums from an online teacher. This drum was my grandfathers and I thought he could use it but his teacher says he needs a student drum. I was told I might be able to trade this for a student drum and maybe some cash. Please let me know if you have a student drum with a case and practice pad and would be open to trading it, sticks would be great too. The bottom skin of the drum says remo and the drum it self is pretty old and rusty.

Sure, I'd trade a student snare drum for Grandpa's old "worthless" and rusty 1920's model. I could stir up a student acro in trade. The drum teacher didn't think this one was 'good enough' for a student. Black beauty?

Methinks the floor toms might be 14 & 16. No bids and just up the road... and I have the lugs... Hmmmmm

Darned enablers!

Could be a scam. Still posted though. I messaged the seller yet received no reply. But sometimes my quirky email address ends up in spam folders.

Much appreciated tip! AND they also had a swan-leg cymbal stand, marked 'other', complete with tilter for only $43! Got em both and they combined shipping!

THANKS!
I haven't been to a MGR in years but I have a feeling that some of the hired youngsters don't bother to do their research. Can't really blame them at minimum wage. Glad I could help out!

Some excitement on Facebook and CL Saturday when this Slingerland stage band kit popped up for sale at $40 out of Sharon, MA. No idea who got it. But it should resurface soon enough.
Wasn't sure if the bass drum was an 18 or 20. Seller said it was a 19"....which is pretty close if you measure hoop OD to hoop OD. The 6" rail fits easily between lugs which sort of suggests a 20". Other sizes were 12 tom, 14 floor tom. 6 lug snare drum. How could anyone think this was worth $40? I made an offer but never heard back. Ohers I know responded as well.. No replies. Ads removed within 24 hrs. No doubt they got lots of messages. UPDATE. The seller did eventually get back to responders as they were overwhelmed with offers. The kit was eventually purchased by a friend of mine. The kit will be back to full glory very soon.
