Hey all,

For sale is a rare, rare set of oak phonics. Sizes are 10x8, 12x8, 14x14, 16x16, and 20x14. For their age, they are in great shape with only minor pitting which is common and a few small scuffs/dings on the veneer. Both single and double tom mounts. The 14x14 does not have the internal muffler. The 16x16 came separate from the rest and so the veneer is a bit lighter. I've owned these since 2015 and have not seen another set like these show up on reverb, ebay, etc. The 20x14 is quite rare in an off itself.

They can cover a huge sonic range.

More pictures forthcoming.

Asking 4k plus shipping (which would not be cheap given their weight), or best offer. I'm willing to drive a little ways from Baltimore to not ship.

Phonics would indeed be hard to replace today. The SQ2 equivalent is not as quite as thick. The heavy with an outside veneer is 4ply at 8mm. Those Oaks are 9 ply beech plus 1ply veneer at 10mm.

The make it confusing.. which means all is normal at Sonor .. depending on who is doing what .. LOL

Each of those 4 "plies" are sheets made up of 3 plies.. so.. 4x3.. it's a 12 ply 8mm shell.

right; it’s 20% less

but here’s the rub

Most guys get their SQ2 with an inner an outer veneer that’s most likely ALPI composite which is poplar

so if you get that option you get 2 plys of beech at 4mm and 2 plys of polar at 4mm

now the SQ2 is 60% less beech then the original Phonics
