After each 4 bars a 5/16 note fill is played. With each fill the click is displaced forward one 16th note. Repeat 4 times until it's back on 1.
To go back in the opposite direction use a 3/16 note fill four times until the click is back on 1.

Cool! Do you hear/feel the original beat, the clikc) or change it mentally to the place it takes in the new groove? Sounds like something Vinnie would do.

I'm hearing and feeling in 4/4 (of course) and listening for the new position of the click each time. The idea is to play decent enough time to hold it there for 4 measures. The groove here is simple so it's easier to hear and keep track of the moving click.

You make me realize that I don’t even know how much I don’t know. Watching a Matt Gastka lesson on Drumeo. I can’t decide if it’s more discouraging or inspirational.
