Found this at a sale today for $200; got him down to $150ca. Anyone have more details on it? We tried a magnet and it didn’t stick; that means it’s brass?

I understand that brass is really light. It's so light, you have to stack something on top of it - or it will float up and stick to the ceiling. Several chairs at my workplace have the same problem - so my boss has had to bring a bunch people in to sit on them because we can't have a bunch of chairs on the ceiling. They get bored so he gives them computers to play with.

I have the - Side Throw Lightning- on a 66 COB - if you need any help with it (clicking off when you don't want it to) lemme know I have the fix

Please enlighten me.......mine is like the OP's snare, but the throw is quite non-finicky and likes to fly off at the most inopportune times! Yours is a RB? Thanks, JDA.

(yes) And it was originally was a microsensitive; it failed and in 76 had it changed (to the part a drum store had on hand) a side throw lightning

It has to be "away from"
the shell. This is accomplished with three large nuts (yes I said that) between -the strainer and the shell.
To move strainer away from shell - allowing the cam (over-center) action of the lever - in it's on position- total security.

Won't unintentionally throw off no matter how hard or for how long you play the drum.

Three nice- not too thick but thick- nuts between shell and strainer
my mechanic found me (or had on hand; they're nice) the nuts; Pics

almost 1/2" thick (so distance from shell)

And I, too, have the Side Lightning, but on a late 60's Round Badge.

Nuts to you, Joe! How about throwing in a sweet 'lil rubber/felt washer to protect that tender brass?

See it. Rubber washer ring, in the threads
of the adjust knob.
Gretsch are Gladstones
esp that Side Throw very similar in principle (not Victoria)
to Gladstone. All iron.
