Went to my local GC today for a small item and spotted a used Gretsch Renown in WMP. I didn't examine them closely, but they look great and I believe it's 10/12/14/16 with an 18" kick. They're asking $1449 for it, and I'm really tempted. Don't really need them, but I covet that bass drum.

I know. I should have taken a picture, but had left my phone in the car. Sorry.

The $1499.99 price is too high IMO - with two 14" floor toms it might be hard to get good separation.
It's also got a 20" bass drum - sounds like you might have been looking for an 18?

I don't think that's an 18" kick. If you're interested you should go back with a tape measure.

I will add my vote that the price is too high for this set, unless it's exactly what you want and you'll never sell it.

Once you accept the fact that there is no real difference between needing and wanting new (or used) drums
everything will just fall into place - My wife needed some convincing but it's all good now

Those look great -- if they are in "like new" condition, I think I would begin the conversation.

I could easily be wrong about the sizes. Obviously didn't examine very closely or I'd have noticed the floor tom sizes. Besides, I really don't need another set and don't care much for white marine pearl.

What we have learned about you from this is that you do want a Gretsch kit with an 18” kick, but not in white marine pearl.

And this you shall have.

It may take a while, but at least this set showed you what direction to head on the journey. The Law of Attraction allows us to feel joy for the things we want and they eventually comes at the right time. Not always perfectly as we envision them, but the right one eventually comes.

Yup , I waited many years to find BDP Slingerland kit . And I searched 10 years for a black 18” floor Tom for my other kit .
