So I ordered myself an early birthday present. The 8713UA is a flat based snare stand. I saw one at NAMM and it seems like the the perfect fit. Lightwieght but with universal angle adjustment.
I already have the flat based stand with teeth, but as is the case with all ratchet type stands, they just don't seem to get exactly where I want the angle. I guess it's exponential, a slight degree in the teeth becomes more prominent with the diameter of the snare.
Will this advantage be worth $70 somerhing? I think so, since it's always been annoying.
Stay tuned.

i have both! the universal adjustment is wonderful, i guarantee you are going to love it. i use mine to cradle my ride tom, it's so nice to get those little extra tweaks to put the drum exactly where i want it. this stand does just that! one thing makes me crazy though, they, Gibraltar are using the same height adjustment "knuckle" as their new flat based hi-hat stand (i also have one of those). this is set up with a very nice memory lock on the hi-hat stand, but, after contacting Gibraltar they DO NOT sell the memory lock separate, it would be great to have that feature on this stand. sometimes Gibraltar logic, and i love their stuff immensely. makes no sense.
