It’s a pain hauling my RocnSoc throne around and since I rarely if ever do a
full night gig and no back issues .I checked into a lighter easier to pack throne .

Upon initial inspection the box it came in weighed 13 lbs . I don’t know how much my RocnSoc weighs but it seems decently lighter …

I’m used to saddle style seats so this feels different so far but the padding seems pretty close to the RnS .

Top is easily removable compared to the RnS , bonus ..

So no issues with it fitting in my case .

And with the height adj being a screw-type no worries about the longevity of the seat post ….. View attachment 601423 View attachment 601424 View attachment 601425

I paid $99 shipped …
Where did you get it from at that price, if I may ask?

All I’m seeing on Reverb is $129 plus shipping.

What’s the product?
Do you buy sticks with it on or do you buy the wraps separately and put them on the sticks?
A bunch of stick makers sell them. Stick wraps. A thin wrap. I've also used some of the athletic tape that trainers use on injuries, say where they will put a 6" strip of 2" wide tape across a portion of the calf, or thigh, or bicep. Not the coarse type of wrapping tape that a lot of hunters use to camo bows and such but sorta the same thing. Not super adhesive like duct tape but very adhesive and just thick enough to provide a bit of cushion.

But I like the stick wraps better.

They're not expensive and you can rewrap if you want it longer or shorter and it still sticks. It also acts, to a degree, to cushion the hand.

I find using those on lightweight 5a sticks gets them up to the Vater 3a width I prefer. About 30 years ago, I had some guy who had a Modern Drummer ad for custom drumsticks make me a few bricks of 5a wood and nylon tip. Great sticks but just a wee bit thinner than a 5a, and that's not my sweet spot. I wrapped a few of those and they are just perfect. I have no idea where I got the sticks from but probably have the receipt somewhere in boxes of music memorabilia that I have. Anyway, after sitting unused for decades, I'm enjoying them now.

I actually bought a set of longer (same length as 5a) 7a sticks and wrapped them and found that great for lower volume playing.

I like tractor seats. I bought an Ahead tractor throne from another forumite and was surprised how light it is. Definitely as comfortable and with as much back support as my Pork Pie Big Boy. So my Pork Pie and Gibraltar tractor thrones are on practice sets and the Ahead seat is for playing out.

I use that exact Gibraltar base with a roc n soc saddle top to gig & tour with. Those roc nsoc bases are too heavy to travel.

I leave the roc n soc base with a basic top at the practice space.

I noticed last year my sticks starting to slip around , seems I’ve developed extremely dry palms . I also deal with eczema .. I find I can keep a more relaxed grip as well .
I need all the help I can get with relaxation …
I have very dry hands too, which is why I use Regal Tip sticks. I wish I could use Vater, but their finish is way to slippery.

Try wiping on shellac. It takes a few minutes but gives a pretty close approximation to the regal tip feel without too much fumes or effort

Not in a long time. Plus I play a LOT of cross stick, so I don't like the wrap getting in the way of that.

I don’t bother using butt end on cross stick . I just can’t hear that much difference…

I hadn’t weighed the box. But I just double checked and it is 9.35lbs.

I’m pretty sure we have the same model. Gibraltar Airtech Skinny Top Drum Throne - Single Braced. Was on sale for $99.99.

I looked at the UPS label to see the weight and figured the boxes might weigh a Lb ..

Ah. It is possible that the UPS label was not an actual weight and was input by a human.

For comparison’s sake, my daughter’s Gibraltar double braced throne, model 9608, is 12lbs.
