Follow the money, dog.If you listen to Mark Farner, it was Don Brewer that hoodwinked him into signing over his stake in the band. I'd love to know the why....
Pretty much one of the "Power Trio" prototypesSaw them on the Closer To Home tour,1970.
Bloodrock opened.
GFR kicked major ass but Brewer is not one of my favs.
Mel was badazz
As was Mark

Actually, I was just having a little wordplay fun with your chosen screen name, though money is the likely culprit. There's a Farner interview on Youtube where he discusses what went down between him and Brewer. I'm sure Brewer has his own version of the story, but AFIK, he's never talked publicly about it.So it's as simple as reducing the split of whatever money "Grand Funk Railroad" generates from 3 to 2 people?
That is one of my all-time favorite Simpsons clips....One of my favorite bands too back in fourth grade along with Three Dog Night, Leon Russell and Chicago. Maybe not a pocket drummer, but Don was more than competent!
Regardless of whether or not all of Mark's testimony is 100% accurate, it's stuff like this that makes me feel somewhat better that I never "made it" as a commercially successful drummer. I've met and talked to only a few famous musicians, and once the conversation got candid, it was never too long before references were made to lawyers and contracts. If what Mark says here is factual, then Don Brewer is a total weasel in my opinion.
