That pattern reminds me of the Motor City kits they had for a while.

Yup, really good looking kit. Love that 50's look!

How did this drum shop in Hungary, that just joined Reverb with no sales history, score one of these kits? And would you buy such a high ticket item from them?

Nice looking, but I could NEVER justify paying more for a set of drums than my first car.

Absolutely. That's an asinine amount of money for four drums, no matter what they are.

I knew I had pointed out a set that was in Oklahoma

with a closer to reality price

Wow, huge price difference! Like a quarter of the price of the one in Hungary, and it looks like seller took even less in an offer.

Bop a playing style not pants hem : ) ok call it fusion bop.
Gretsch was doing the Curly Maple - the red black the yellowblack and a plain greyish?wood.. At a hot time in their sales before the most recent hot sales period ; )
there's also a big 24" Curly yellow/black set if you google it;
so anyways

The silver/black two color kit that Gretsch made similar timeframe to these. They are rare too. This is a sweet kit. Classy!

They had me at 18x16 bass.......I'll pass. Disappointed about that. Color is okay. Price is pretty steep - I'd be picking up a vintage bop before that one.

I've got an 18x16 Ludwig 'power bass' on my bop sized 18/12/14 kit, and just love it.
It's got about the largest tuning range of any bass drum I've had, and sounds great from low to high.

Maybe a little too loud for small group/room use without some taming down though,
and an 18x14 or 18x12 could squeeze into slightly smaller spaces.

Still - I like it much more than the other half dozen or so 18" bass drums I've had.
