I think I mentioned earlier that I recovered a Renown 14x14 floor tom to use with a stop sign set. I did so because the Renown 14x14 was $150 vs. who knows how much? (actually I do since I've bought two RB 14x14s).

That drum was a lacquer finish but I found out once I rewrapped it (in super tangerine glitter) that heads wouldn't fit and I had to cut the wrap down in that same manner. I guess even foreign made Gretsch shells are oversized.

The drum blends right in with the SSB set I use it with, no issues.

Yes. The previous owner removed what he said was a really faded champagne sparkle wrap. He sent the ft and bd to a furniture company who refinished the drums in this beautiful natural finish
Wonder what his cost from the refinisher was. I wanted to just have a snare done and the guy wanted $200. Your guy probably knew an affordable refinisher.
